Muhlenberg Township Commissioners awarded an $18 million contract for trash, recycling, and yard waste collection to local hauler J. P. Mascaro & Sons. The contract covers the pickup of trash, recyclables, and yard waste for 6,600 households in Muhlenberg Township over seven years. A Mascaro affiliate, Pioneer Crossing Landfill, handles the disposal of the waste under a separate long-term waste agreement.
These services will be provided by J. P. Mascaro & Sons' local Berks County division, which employs about 100 employees. This facility serves as the base for 50 collection vehicles, primarily operating in Berks, Chester, Montgomery, and Schuylkill counties, all of which benefit from organized daily collection services.
