Recently, on July 17, 2026, Mascaro’s Brooke County Landfill, located about 35 miles outside of the City of Pittsburgh, received a major DEP permit modification that authorizes the facility to operate a large 11,000 square foot on-site waste stabilization/solidification building, whose principal function is to stabilize/solidify a variety of approved wet industrial wastes prior to them being disposed of in the landfill. Without such a stabilization/solidification process, the liquid content of the wet industrial wastes would make them ineligible for disposal in Mascaro’s Brooke County Landfill or in any other permitted landfill.
Speaking to the major landfill permit modification, company President, Pat Mascaro, said, “I am extremely pleased that our Brooke County Landfill now has a ‘one-of-a-kind’ on-site wet waste stabilization/solidification building that enables us to provide a special stabilization/solidification service for a wide variety of industrial waste generators that qualifies their wet waste for final disposal at our landfill.”
