The Exeter Community Library is thrilled to have the
opportunity to run it’s “Booking It: Getting Seniors Engaged in the Library
Community Through Outreach Services” for a second year. Thanks to a generous donation by local waste
and recycling company, J.P. Mascaro & Sons, the library will have the funds to
continue this program targeted to improve the lives of seniors.
“We created the ‘Booking It' program last year to enhance
memory, stimulate the mind and increase socialization skills in our senior community,”
explained the library’s Executive Director, Mallory Hoffman, “The residents of
the nursing homes truly enjoy it and I am grateful we are able to continue this
important program.”
Through the program, Hoffman provides three assisted living
facilities, Berkshire Commons, Golden Living and SeniorLife, with a collection
of books, media and assistive technology.
Hoffman visits the facilities with new information and materials,
including ADA compliant Kindle e-readers, once a month.
“When we heard of this exceptional program, we knew we
needed to help prolong its run,” Mascaro's Director of Community Relations, Lindsay Mascaro Ptaszenki
said, “We hope other local businesses will follow in our footsteps.”
Having already donated $2500.00, Mascaro has committed to
matching an additional $2500.00 donated by other organizations and
